To tweet or not to tweet?  Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably heard such terms as “Tweet Me, Tweets, and Tweeting. “ These terms are used by many who utilize the social networking site Twitter.

The Twitter application has become a giant in the social networking arena with a 140 character small messaging signature.   

“Who said sleeping in a moldy apartment was bad for you? Horizon realty thinks its okay.”  This was a tweet written by Amanda Bonnen, who is no longer a member of the Twitter community.

The Chicago based Horizon realty group discovered Amanda’s tweet and filed a lawsuit for defamation. Horizon is seeking 50,000 in damages.  

The outcome of this lawsuit will be viewed by many Twitter members and social network users. The reality is freedom of speech appears to be almost non - existent. Should a tweet be held to journalist standards?
